Welcome to Dresden's Virtual Baby Book

Austin and Tori both knew they wanted to be parents. It was one of the first things they talked about when they started dating.

Still, there was certainly a time when both Tori and Austin wondered if they would ever have the opportunity to write this story. Tori had multiple doctors warn conception would be difficult, and a few advise against pregnancy altogether. After many heartbreaks, they started exploring all options including adoption and surrogacy. On a whim, Tori found Kindbody, a fertility clinic where she met a doctor who claimed to have a different approach. After going through all the standard tests, Tori finally received an actual diagnosis and was told that IVF would work. In fact, her doctor’s exact words were, “I am 99% certain IVF will not only work for you, but will take on the first round.”

This certainty stressed Tori out…

The process was not easy and in many ways became a full-time job. Tori responded almost too well to the drugs, which meant she had a very difficult time moving and became very sick within days of starting the process. Austin woke up at 6:00am to take Tori to every single IVF appointment, administered all her shots, got her a gift to open each evening during stims, and became their fertility clinic’s favorite patient. One nurse even noted that Austin had raised the bar for what she expected from her future husband after seeing the way he treated Tori during stims.

Even though all the numbers looked great on paper, the emotional toll IVF took prompted Austin and Tori to agree that they would limit the number of rounds and transfers they would do before moving on.

Dresden implanted after the first round of IVF and was their first embryo transfer. He just really wanted to be born.

When two people love each other very much… They visit a doctor and make a baby in a lab.

Dresden’s embryo

IVF would not have been possible without Monte Slatton and Robert Estes who contributed significantly to their procedure fund. There’s really not enough thanks in the world for that.

Facts about Dresden

  • Dresden started out as a 5AA embryo (very strong), was transferred in late August 2023, and likely implanted within the first 8 hours.

  • He has been measuring big since his conception, nearly a week ahead of schedule.

  • He is very, very active baby. He started moving at 16 weeks and kicks every few hours.

What’s in a name?

Dresden

Austin and Tori picked the name Dresden in honor of Tori’s grandfather, Thomas Dresden Slatton.

Facts about the name:

  • The name was Austin’s idea as a way to honor one of Tori’s favorite people who sadly passed away a month before Tori and Austin started the IVF process.

  • The name Dresden means “people of the forest” in German.

  • It’s a gender- neutral name that Tori and Austin were going to use for either gender. They have started calling him “Dre".

Quin

Austin and Tori picked the name Quin in honor of Austin’s brother, Landon Quin Estes.

Facts about the name:

  • The name was Tori’s idea because she knows how much Landon means to Austin and loved the way it sounded with “Dresden.”

  • The name Quin is originally from Ireland, meaning "chief" or "wise" in Gaelic.

  • The name has grown in popularity in almost every western country in the past two decades.

Please leave Dre a note for his baby book…

It can be a couple of pages or just a few sentences, but we’d love for him to have a short introduction to the people in his parents’ lives.

Milestones & Predictions

Tori knew she was pregnant 3 days after transfer because… signs. She got a very faint positive on day 4 and Austin finally believed it was real on day 5 when a digital test came back. Words really can’t describe the feeling.

Despite being labeled “high risk” Dresden is so healthy that he graduated from his prenatal specialist in early January.

Austin has read close to a dozen books about pregnancy and early childcare in preparation for Tori’s pregnancy and Dre’s birth.

Monte Slatton was the first person to find out Tori was pregnant. Josh and Kate Kreamer found out shortly after when Tori almost threw up in their car.

Tori’s “official” due date is May 13th, but Dre implanted very early. Her estimated scheduled c-section will take place May 9th depending on how he’s measuring, but Tori is predicting he’ll come early.

Dresden has over a 90% chance of having Austin’s eye color and a 70% chance of having Tori’s ADHD. He’s been measuring long and big for his gestational age.
